Eyelash Serum: Natural Growth or a Hoax?
Last month I watched a segment on HSN that advertised the Lancome Oscillation Mascara. This mascara claims to deliver 7,000 oscillations per minute, giving you the power to look like you used the techniques of a make-up artist.
The model’s lashes looked perfect. It took everything in me not to pick up the phone and purchase the mascara. Instead, I decided to do some due diligence and determine if the product was worth purchasing. Needless to say, I forgot all about it the product.
I quickly remembered when I took a girlfriend of mine (wink wink… hey Desi) sight-seeing in Georgetown, last weekend, and we stopped at the MAC Cosmetics store. The sales associates eyelashes where so long and thick, so I asked her what type of mascara she was using. The representative immediately pitched me MAC’s new lash serum, so to ease my curiosity I swiftly purchased the serum and have been applying it every single day!

Other Lash Enhancers
There are many companies that claim they can enhance our lovely lady lashes. There are lash serum’s and moisturizer’s and there are mascara’s that promise dramatic lengthening. Remember, if you want to have natural lash growth make sure you look for a serum or moisturizer and not mascara lengthening. Most serum’s need to be applied to the base of your eyelid and not to your actual lashes.
Below is a list of popular lash enhancers and their respective prices:
Serums & Moisturizers:
MAC Prep + Prime Future Length Lash Serum, $30
Loreal Concentrated Lash Boosting Serum , $14.95
NYX Growth Lash Serum, $25
Urban Decay Lush Lash System, $42
Rapid Lash, $49.95
Dior Show Maximizer, $28 (can be found at Nordstrom)
Let the Games Begin
My desire to lengthen my lashes is not a new concept. For hundreds of years eyelashes have been a symbol of feminism and beauty. Women have been enhancing their eyelashes since Ancient Egypt, when women used kohl to enhance their eyes. Thank goodness… I am not alone! Although I am dead-set on longer lashes, I don’t feel comfortable wearing fake lashes. Fake lashes look very unnatural and I just don’t feel comfortable wearing them on an everyday basis. I am excited to see how well the MAC lash serum is going to work.
Below are a picture of what my lashes look like now (week 1) . My lashes are not very short, but I still aspire for a dramatic finish. The serum takes 8 weeks until I can see any results, therefore I will be keeping a blog journal during this 8 weeks to see if this product really works or if it’s just a big ol’ hoax.
If you have an eyelash serum or another eyelash lengthening product that you swear by please tell us below in the comments section. Even if you tried a product and you think it’s horrible, just share your thoughts on your experiences. We all would like to know! Also, send me your eyelash photos, and I will post your before and after results.
Have you given Mac’s Prep + Prime Future Length Eyelash Serum a shot? What did you think? Did you see any results?
