Sick? Ditch The Cough Medicine And Opt for Some Coconut Oil Therapy!
I swear I have been sick back to back, TO BACK! My daughter is 11 months old now and for the last 6 months I’ve had constant upset stomach, more colds than I would prefer and a general lack of willingness to do anything outside of whats expected! I’m seriously fed up with feeling down and out.

When I get sick I either try to ride it out or take something natural, like eating garlic (which is a natural antibiotic). So, I turned to my step-mother Dee for advice about my seemingly never ending health issues and her remedy for me… a spoon-full of coconut oil a day!
I was confused when I heard this. I knew coconut oil was good, but was good enough to boost my immune system? Dee explained that ever since she started taking a tablespoon of coconut oil she has never felt better. I felt happy for her coconut success, but she is just one person. I had to determine if other people were experiencing the same success.
The Benefits of Coconut Oil
When I asked around and did a bit of research the response’s I received were the same as Dee’s. People used it externally to help their skin and hair. Some used it internally to help ward off infections, promote weight loss, lessen stress and assist with an overall healthy digestive system. I read that many holistic doctors have suggested the oil for patients to cure serious sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, herpes and genital warts. Some glorified the use of the oil so much, they coined the use of it as “Coconut Oil Therapy”.
How Is Coconut Oil So Powerful?
The answer: the presence of lauric acid! Lauric Acid is considered a good fat (or fatty acid). As we all know (or should know) not all types of fat are bad. According to Help Guide there are a variety of foods that contain good fats such as olive oil, sunflower seeds, nuts and lauric acid. Besides coconut oil, the only other food source that is found with such high levels of laruic acid is breast milk, and breast milk is some of the best stuff on earth (ask my daughter Lola!!). Isn’t that amazing?
Start your coconut oil therapy regimen today! It’s best to take coconut oil orally. Like my step-mother Dee stated, she takes one tablespoon per day at first, then she increased to two times a day. Some people taken it as often as three times.
I will warn that when you first start to ingest this fantastical oil it may be difficult to get used to. To get over this hump, start with one tablespoon and work your way up to two or three. Remember, you can also cook with coconut oil as a nice introduction. It can easily be replaced for vegetable oil or olive oil.
I am going straight to my local health food store to get my coconut oil and do as my step-mother says and take a spoon-full a day. Besides, I love the taste of coconuts!
